Hazardous Materials Awareness (RCRA)

Course Description

This course serves as an introduction to the Hazardous Materials Regulation (HMR) and provides foundational knowledge on the safe transportation of hazardous materials. Participants will gain insights into both U.S. and international regulations governing this process, along with an understanding of how hazardous materials are classified.

Importantly, this course fulfills the training requirements for general awareness and familiarization as outlined in OSHA 1910.120. However, it's crucial to note that the course does not address security awareness or meet function-specific training requirements (DOT Title 49). Participants are encouraged to seek additional training to fulfill those specific aspects of hazardous materials handling and transportation.

Who should take this course?

This course is designed for individuals whose roles directly impact the secure transportation of hazardous materials. This encompasses anyone involved in:

  • Shipping or receiving hazardous materials
  • Preparing hazardous materials for transport
  • Loading or unloading shipments containing hazardous materials

It's essential to note that, depending on your specific job duties, you may require supplementary, function-specific training to ensure comprehensive proficiency in handling hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
