AHA Heartsaver CPR & AED Classes in Harrisburg, PA
J.A.S. Training & Safety Solutions runs American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED classes in Harrisburg, Hershey and Hummelstown, PA, for workplaces, community groups and anyone who is not a healthcare professional. The class is hands-on, takes a single session, and your AHA certification card is valid for two years.
What Is Heartsaver CPR & AED?
Heartsaver is the American Heart Association's CPR certification for people who are not healthcare professionals. It teaches you to recognise a cardiac emergency, perform chest compressions and use an AED on an adult, child or infant.
It is the certification most employers mean when they ask staff to be "CPR certified". If your employer specifically asks for BLS, you need the professional-level class instead. If your employer asks for professional-level certification, our AHA BLS certification class is the one you need.
Who Needs Heartsaver CPR & AED
Anyone who might be first on the scene and is not a clinical responder.
Workplace safety teams and designated responders
Required at many workplaces as part of an emergency action plan or OSHA compliance programme.
Coaches, fitness instructors and gym staff
Cardiac events during exercise are the reason AEDs sit in most gyms, and someone needs to know how to use one.
Teachers, camp staff and youth group leaders
Certification for anyone supervising groups away from immediate medical help.
Security officers, hospitality and retail staff
Public-facing roles where you may be the first responder before EMS arrives.
Parents, grandparents and caregivers
No workplace requirement, just the ability to act in the minutes that matter most.
Construction and industrial crews
Sites where a designated first aid responder is a compliance requirement.
If you work with infants or young children, our
pediatric CPR and first aid classes cover child and infant technique in more depth.
What the Class Covers
The course follows official American Heart Association Heartsaver curriculum and is taught hands-on. You practise on manikins and complete a skills check before certification is issued.
- Recognising cardiac arrest and activating the emergency response system
- Chest compressions for adults, children and infants
- Rescue breathing technique
- AED use, including pad placement and safety around the patient
- Choking response for a responsive and unresponsive person
- Working with a second rescuer until EMS arrives
Heartsaver CPR and AED can also be taken combined with First Aid in a single session, which is the most common choice for workplace compliance.

1. Book your seat online, or contact us to arrange training at your workplace.
